Description
-
Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) is a universal antioxidant and an insulin mimicker. It prevents the conversion of Carbs to Fat due to its insulin potentiating function. It also has an excellent nutrient partitioning effect thus improving the body’s overall absorption of protein and fat. ALA is also a powerful antioxidant thus offering cell-protective (anti-aging) benefits.
-
Vitrovea Alpha Lipoic Acid+ Double Strength combines ALA with another natural insulin sensitizer- CHROMIUM, for an even more effective carbohydrate-to-fat control solution. The unique combination of an insulin mimicker + insulin sensitizer ensures the optimum utilization of glucose and reduces the chances of fat storage.

FAQs
Q.1 What is Alpha Lipoic Acid+ Double Strength?
Alpha Lipoic Acid+ Double Strength provides the potent antioxidant Alpha-lipoic acid along with Chromium Polynicotinate to help in efficient carbohydrate utilization and to support weight management. Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is an insulin mimicker that directly activates the insulin signaling pathway. Alpha Lipoic Acid+ Double Strength also contains Chromium Polynicotinate, a highly bioavailable form of Chromium, which provides 400 mcg of Chromium per serving to support the efficient cellular response to insulin.
Q.2 What is Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA)?
Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is a naturally occurring fatty acid. It is also known as Lipoic acid (LA) and Thiotic Acid. It is created in the mitochondria (cell’s energy production unit). It usually acts as a cofactor in many cellular processes. ALA is found in small amounts in food, mostly in organ meats and in some vegetables such as spinach, broccoli and potatoes. However, these amounts are too low to raise the ALA levels in body. Hence, supplemental free ALA is suggested for increasing ALA levels.
Q.3 Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) as an Insulin Mimicker-
ALA performs two main functions- it acts as an insulin mimicker and as an antioxidant. A high carbohydrate meal results in a sudden influx of glucose in the blood which, if not cleared, is converted into fat and stored in the adipose tissue. Insulin is responsible for clearing the excess glucose from the blood stream. Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA), as an insulin mimicker, directly activates the glucose transporters (GLUT4) in both the muscle and fat cells. This leads to the stimulation of glucose uptake within the muscle and the liver, and thus prevents fat accumulation.
Q.4 Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) as an antioxidant-
ALA is also a potent antioxidant as it works in both the fat and water soluble environments. It is hence able to provide protection against free radical oxidation, within as well as outside the cell. It also helps in the regeneration of other antioxidants like Vitamin C, Vitamin E and COQ10, as well as the body’s endogenous antioxidants such as glutathione.
Q.5. How does insulin resistance lead to fat accumulation?
Insulin resistance is one of the key factors that hampers fat loss. If you are insulin resistant, your cells will not utilize glucose from the blood because they are insensitive to insulin.
Q.6 What is Chromium Polynicotinate?
Chromium Polynicotinate is made up of Niacin bound to Chromium. This bonding increases the bioavailability of Chromium. As a result, Chromium Polynicotinate is a much more effective form of supplemental Chromium than the more commonly used Chromium Picolinate.
Q.7 How does Chromium Polynicotinate work?
Chromium Polynicotinate is a source of the essential mineral- Chromium. Chromium plays a role in the metabolism of glucose and is also necessary for energy production. It acts as an insulin sensitizer and enables the body’s cells to respond to insulin’s activity. This leads to a better glucose uptake to be used for energy.
Q.8 I have heard ALA helps in Creatine absorption. Can I use Alpha Lipoic Acid+ Double Strength with my Creatine?
Yes Creatine monohydrate requires insulin to carry it into the muscle cells. ALA, by mimicking insulin’s activity, optimizes the creatine delivery. Take one serving of Alpha Lipoic Acid+ Double Strength just before taking your creatine drink.
